Commissioner Karachi Syed Hasan Naqvihas directed all relevant institutions to perform their duties diligently and responsibly in the ongoing efforts to beautify the city’s major roads.
Syed Hasan Naqvi made these remarks while presiding over a high-level meeting at the Commissioner’s Office focused on the beautification of Karachi’s roadways.
Addressing the participants, Commissioner Naqvi issued a series of directives and held consultations on accelerating the beautification drive. He emphasized that priority attention must be given to Shahrah-e-Faisal, Shahrah-e-Quaideen, and Abdullah Haroon Road.
He instructed concerned departments to complete road patchwork within a week, eliminate encroachments, and ensure that footpaths are made walkable for pedestrians. He also stressed that service roads should be cleared and functional for commuters to fully utilize.
The commissioner issued special instructions for the repair of streetlights, removal of unauthorized posters and graffiti, and the reconstruction of broken manholes. He also urged Cantonment Boards and the SSWMB (Sindh Solid Waste Management Board) to maintain high cleanliness standards without any lapse.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner South Javed Nabi Khoso, DC East Abrar Jaffar, DG Technical KMC Tariq Hussain, MD SSWMB Tariq Ali Nizamani, and representatives from K-Electric. Officials from various Cantonment Boards, SBCA, and TMC Saddar also participated, while MD KW&SB Ahmed Ali Siddiqui shared updates via video link.
During the session, AC G. Hazim Bhangwar presented a comprehensive briefing on the condition of roads in District South, while AC Rabia Syed provided an overview of roads in District East. Commissioner Naqvi announced that a follow-up meeting will be held next week to ensure implementation of the decisions made during the session.
