Lawyers' protests against the project to draw canals from the Indus River have entered their tenth day, with sit-ins continuing across Sindh, including at the Babarlou Bypass in Khairpur.
The demonstrations have completely halted goods transport between Sindh and Punjab, stranding hundreds of trucks and trailers loaded with food and essential supplies.
Transporters report severe difficulties due to the intense heat, with perishable items beginning to spoil.
Sindh Interior Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar has appealed to protestors to end the sit-in at Babarlou Bypass, citing the growing hardships faced by people across the country.
He also assured that the government is not considering the use of force to disperse the demonstrators.
