The Lahore High Court has ordered that administrative control of four major historical sites—Shalimar Gardens, Jahangir's Tomb, Anarkali’s Tomb, and Qutubuddin Aibak’s Tomb—be handed over to the Punjab Department of Archaeology.
Previously managed by the Walled City Authority, these heritage sites will now fall under the jurisdiction of the Archaeology Department. Justice Shahid Karim issued the directive while hearing a contempt petition filed by Irfan Ali, who alleged that private events were still being held at Shalimar Gardens in defiance of earlier court orders.
The court has requested a full implementation report by tomorrow.
