Pakistan deported more than 4,000 Afghan Citizen Card holders and foreign nationals residing illegally in the country on Saturday, as part of its ongoing nationwide repatriation drive.
According to official figures, a total of 4,130 undocumented Afghan nationals were sent back on April 19 alone, raising the total number of deportations to 976,099 since the initiative began.
The government launched the crackdown following the expiry of the deadline for voluntary departure, aiming to ensure the return of individuals staying in Pakistan without valid documentation, including Afghan Citizen Card holders.
Authorities have reiterated that the process is being conducted in a dignified and humane manner, with a strong emphasis on preventing mistreatment of returnees.
The repatriation campaign underscores Pakistan’s commitment to managing migration and border security in line with national laws, while maintaining respect for human rights and international norms.
