The Foreign Office (FO) on Friday warned that any Indian attempt to block river water flow would be deemed an act of war.
“Stopping the flow of water will be considered an act of war,” said FO spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan at a weekly briefing.
He said the National Security Committee (NSC) had decided on strong measures following India's aggressive stance after the Pahalgam massacre, calling it a threat to regional peace.
The FO also slammed India's violation of the Indus Water Treaty, calling it proof of New Delhi’s “irresponsible behavior” and said India's actions validated the two-nation theory.
Khan added that Pakistan’s armed forces were on high alert and ready to respond to any provocation.
Further measures included the closure of the Wagah Border and denial of Pakistani airspace to Indian flights. Indian visas under the SAARC scheme were cancelled, though exemptions were granted to Sikh pilgrims.
He also highlighted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s successful visit to Turkiye, the UAE deputy PM’s trip to Pakistan, and Deputy PM Ishaq Dar’s productive visit to Afghanistan, all aimed at strengthening regional cooperation.
