Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir on Saturday asserted that Pakistan is fully capable of defending itself against any aggression, stating that no propaganda by Indian media or social platforms can rewrite history or undermine Pakistan’s sovereignty.
Addressing cadets at the Pakistan Military Academy’s passing-out ceremony, the Army Chief emphasized the ideological foundation of Pakistan, rooted in the two-nation theory and the distinct identities of Muslims and Hindus.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who also addressed the ceremony, reiterated Pakistan’s rejection of terrorism in all forms and called for a neutral, international investigation into the recent Pahalgam attack in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 27 lives. He denounced India’s baseless accusations against Pakistan in the aftermath of the attack.
Highlighting Pakistan’s frontline role in the fight against terrorism, PM Shehbaz noted that the country has suffered immense losses, with over 90,000 lives lost and billions of dollars in economic damage.
The prime minister also issued a stern warning over any potential violation of the Indus Waters Treaty by India, stating that Pakistan would respond strongly if its water rights were infringed. “There should be no misunderstanding on this matter,” he cautioned.
