Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi, while addressing the weekly review meeting at the Commissioner’s Office, issued strict instructions to all Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners to ensure that the prices of roti, naan, and poultry strictly adhere to the official notification.
He emphasized the need to provide maximum relief to the public. He also directed that the ongoing anti-polio campaign, running until April 27, be carried out with full force and organized effectively. He urged officials to personally participate in the campaign, visit their respective districts, and assist polio teams on the ground.
Regarding the heatwave response, Commissioner Naqvi directed Additional Commissioner Syed Ghulam Mehdi Shah to ensure an adequate supply of cold water at the 484 heatwave relief camps across the city. He further instructed that the 139 medical camps should be fully equipped with all necessary healthcare facilities, with medical and support staff present at each camp.
Deputy Commissioners were also instructed to install awareness banners about the heatwave at these camps on behalf of the Karachi administration, and both DCs and ACs should make field visits to ensure proper functioning. AC Rabia Syed and AC Hazim Bhungwar provided a detailed briefing, while the Commissioner was also updated on weekly reports submitted by all Deputy Commissioners.
