At least four Frontier Corps (FC) personnel were martyred and three others injured in a bomb blast on Friday in the Margate area of Quetta, Balochistan.
According to Deputy Commissioner Quetta Saad Bin Asad, the explosion took place near the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) office. Security forces swiftly cordoned off the area and launched a search operation following the incident.
The latest attack comes just days after a deadly blast on April 15 in Mastung, where a remote-controlled improvised explosive device (IED) targeting a police truck killed three Balochistan Constabulary personnel and injured 16 others. The truck was transporting personnel from RTC Qalat assigned to provide security for a Balochistan National Party (BNP) protest.
Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind confirmed that two of the injured were in critical condition and had been moved to Quetta for advanced treatment. Authorities have launched investigations into both incidents and a detailed report has been requested.
In a separate incident, a suicide bombing near a BNP-M rally at Luk Pass was thwarted after the attacker was stopped by security personnel and party workers. Although the blast occurred, no casualties were reported. The attacker, who arrived on a motorcycle with an accomplice, detonated the explosive while the other suspect fled the scene.
The BNP-M rally, led by Sardar Akhtar Mengal, was part of a long march from Wadh to Quetta in protest against the arrests of Baloch Yakjehti Committee leaders and police crackdowns on peaceful sit-ins.
The surge in attacks underscores the fragile security situation in Balochistan, particularly for law enforcement and protest movements.
