Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that the province is making rapid strides in digital technology and online trade.
She made these remarks during a meeting with a high-level delegation from World Liberty Financial, an institution backed by former US President Donald Trump.
The delegation included Zachary Folkman, Chase Herro, and Zachary Witkoff, along with Bilal Bin Saqib, head of the Pakistan Crypto Council.
Discussions focused on blockchain innovation, tokenization of real-world assets, and the development of stable applications. The two sides explored plans to promote blockchain technology and tokenize Pakistan’s natural resources, including minerals and agriculture.
They also discussed introducing a stablecoin solution to improve transparency, efficiency, and security in digital transactions, with a focus on strengthening frameworks for remittances, financial transactions, and global trade.
Both parties agreed on linking Pakistan’s economic and financial systems to a decentralized finance model. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz praised the delegation's innovative economic proposals and reiterated her commitment to positioning Punjab as a regional leader in digital innovation.
She also briefed the delegation on the Punjab government's ongoing advancements in digital technology and financial collaboration.
