The Sindh Bar Council (SBC) has announced plans to launch a nationwide protest, including a railway blockade, if the controversial canal project is not revoked.
The protest campaign, set to begin after April 25, aims to halt railway traffic across the country if the authorities fail to withdraw the project.
Speaking to the media in Sukkur, SBC Vice Chairman Shafqat Rahim Rajput emphasized that the movement would escalate if the decision on the disputed canals remains unchanged.
He warned that sit-ins would not only disrupt national highways but also block railway tracks throughout Sindh starting April 25, urging citizens to avoid train travel to prevent inconvenience.
Rajput stressed the importance of the River Indus to Sindh, stating, "We cannot allow any compromise on our water rights. This canal project is an attempt to deny Sindh its rightful share." He vowed that the people of Sindh would not remain silent in the face of what he called an "assault on the province’s rights."
