Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has strongly condemned the violent protests held under the guise of solidarity with Gaza, warning that such actions are damaging Pakistan rather than aiding the Palestinian cause.
Speaking at a press conference in Lahore, she said, “Harming Pakistan won’t help Palestinians,” and emphasized that the recent attacks on food franchises are affecting the livelihoods of around 25,000 Pakistanis.
“Those injured and killed in these incidents were Pakistanis. Whose cause are we really serving?” she questioned.
Bukhari accused extremist elements of attempting to derail Punjab’s development and suggested the unrest may be influenced by foreign forces. She warned that no one would be allowed to take the law into their own hands, adding, “Islam stands for peace, not chaos.”
So far, 149 suspects have been arrested and 14 FIRs registered. While welcoming peaceful protests, Bukhari urged citizens to remain within legal boundaries.
