Senior puisne judge Justice Mansoor Ali Shah will assume the role of acting chief justice of Pakistan on Monday, April 21.
The oath will be administered by Justice Muneeb Akhtar, as Chief Justice Yahya Afridi is set to embark on a foreign visit. The ceremony will be attended by senior lawyers and Supreme Court staff.
Meanwhile, the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) has rescheduled its meeting from May 2 to May 19 to deliberate on the appointment of permanent chief justices in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) and three other provincial high courts.
Nominations for these positions are to be submitted by May 4, with three senior judges expected to be considered for each appointment.
